Our Favorite Links As you may have discovered, our
inventory is small and specialized. For that reason, we are
suggesting some sites of independent bookseller friends for you to search.
Assume
that a bookseller only has a portion of available inventory listed
online and ask about items that might be a good fit for that seller. We're always glad to hear
from you although some of us spend more time at the computer than
others.
- The Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA) is dedicated to
maintaining and enforcing high ethical and professional standards for
our member booksellers, including a Code Of Ethics and promoting trust
between customers and booksellers by providing a safe online
environment for the purchase and sale of books. This is an
easy way to search the inventory of many independent booksellers in one
place.
- Tarmans
Books have been independent
booksellers, specializing in out-of-print and collectible books, since
1989. You will find the Tarmans dedicated to suburb
customer service. In addition to shopping Tarmans Books,
you will find a different - but equally interesting - inventory at Tarmans eBay store.
- Bookfever.com specializes
in first editions of twentieth century literature, with an
emphasis on women authors, African American literature and history (or
Black studies), Native American authors, Latin American (including
Chicano/a and Latino/a authors and works in translation) and Hawaiian
and South Pacific islands - plus mystery, detective & suspense
fiction, science fiction, fantasy & horror, poetry &
literary journals, Western Americana, and children's &
illustrated books. Definitely something for everyone!
- Books
Tell You Why specialties include rare books, signed books, and first
editions
widely acknowledged as unique and highly collectible treasures. This is a web site that you will visit again and again.
- Mostly
Romance lives up to its name . . . and then some. Offering a
personalized search service and many hard-to-find collectibles and
sets, this is a must visit site for fans of the genre.
- White
Unicorn Books specializes in Science Fiction and Fantasy. This site is not
only packed full of fascinating books but also articles and links to
pertinent articles. This is a destination for Science Fiction
and Fantasy fans.
- SicPress.com stocks a diverse catalog
of supplies for cleaning and repairing used books. This is the home of
the most valuable tool you can add to your workbench, the
Inkredible Eraser. Also available are books on book repair as well as
an assortment of complimentary repair videos.
- Our bookseller friends, HGBooks,
offer various bookbinding & repair services. Simple repairs such as
hinge tightening, new end papers, corner and spine repair or recasing
can return a book to your collection for years of future use at a
reasonable cost. HGBooks Bookbinding Services have created several wonderful boxes for our personal collectibles.
- Every so often you discover a Very Important Book. Look Me in the Eye is about growing up with
Asperger’s syndrome — a high functioning form of autism — overcoming limitations, and ultimately becoming a successful adult. The synopsis at Random House will fill you in far better than I can here. Spend the time to get to know John, Unit Two, Varmint (his brother Augusten Burroughs) and John's adventures with Pink Floyd and KISS; it will be time well spent.
- Stop, You're Killing me! is a resource for lovers of mystery, crime, thriller, spy, and suspense books. It lists over 2,500 authors, with chronological lists of their books (nearly 29,000 titles), both series (2,900+) and non-series. If you love mysteries, you'll find yourself returning again and again.
